Nocturnes ou les garçons perdus : Interactive creation, visual and sound, on iPad

Sébastien Thon is a researcher in computer-generated images at LSIS and a lecturer in computer science at IUT de Provence (Arles). In 2011, he offered to create an interactive development of the artist’s work on iPad, combining animations and sounds. To create these sounds, they relied on the sensitivity of Daniel Gries, sound-effects creator for films and TV, with whom Mireille Loup as been working since 1997. On October 14, Mireille Loup and Sebastien Thon will show and explain the various stages of this project, which will be released in December.

A majestic woman and a boy of two years old evolve in the rules of the golden section, inside of sets of a great pictoriality. Woman is tied, with the approach of the storm, an Odalisque lying on the lands of a diptych, a fall or a biblical flight amid clouds. We remember, seeing these iconographic images, to The Tempest by Giorgione, or to Et in Arcadia Ego by Poussin.

Since its creation in 1980, the « Mois de la Photo » has strongly contributed to earning Paris the status of photography capital. This event is the opportunity for the Magda Danysz Gallery to present artist Mireille Loup’s latest work for the first time, including new films, Nocturnal or Lost boys series, as well as a part of her MEM (read-only memory) project.

This photographer, videographer, and writer has exposed in numerous galeries and institutions in France, Belgium, Portugal, Greece, Canada and the United States. You can find her photographs in public collections such as the French National Fund for Contemporary Art. She represents the new generation of artists who manages to grasp reality and transcend it with commitment. Mireille Loup choses to talk to us about childhood and Men with catharsis and resiliences.
