Michel Poivert is the author of 50 ans de photographie française, de 1970 à nos jours (Textuel, 2019). In 400 pages and 250 images, he offers a panorama of French photography since the late 1960s, bringing together practices ranging from photojournalism to contemporary art. The book led to an open-air exhibition at the Palais-Royal in 2020. Michel Poivert is Professor of Art History at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University, where he founded the Chair of the History of Photography. He chaired the Société française de photographie for fifteen years, then founded the Collège international de photographie, and he is the author of some thirty books. My work is treated in the chapter “École française – Une affaire d’État” (pp. 345-392).
